The launch of the report of the UCL Policy Commission on the Communication of Climate Science
The UCL Policy Commission on the Communication of Climate Science, chaired by Professor Chris Rapley, brings together a cross-disciplinary group of academics from geography, earth sciences, psychology, neuroscience, science and technology studies, and energy research to examine the role of climate scientists in society and the challenges faced in communicating climate science effectively to policymakers and the public. The Commission’s report argues that a fundamental rethink of the values and practices of climate science is required in order for the climate science community to engage fully with the demands of societal discourse. It makes a number of recommendations to improve communication, training and leadership for the climate science community.
Professor Rapley will present the key conclusions and recommendations of the UCL Policy Commission on the Communication of Climate Science before a panel discussion and open Q&A, chaired by Dr Claire Craig, Deputy Head, Government Office for Science.
