The departments of Mechanics at Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Technique Avancées from ParisTech are offering a Master of Science degree in Mechanics and Physics for the Environment.
 
The goal of this graduate program is to provide students an advanced knowledge of the laws and interactions governing the evolution of our natural environment, in order to prepare them for a successful career in academia or industry.
 
Each year concludes with a several months long internship in a research laboratory in France or abroad. These internships give the students an opportunity to carry out advanced research projects in a stimulating environment.
 
The first year (M1) is solely under the responsibility of Ecole Polytechnique while the second year (M2) is jointly organised with Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Technique Avancées, Université Pierre et Marie Curie and other partners.
 
First year courses are mostly taught in French. All second-year courses are taught in English.

The first year program entitled “Sciences for Environmental Challenges” is organized around three main and interacting facets of the environment among which each student may define his/her personal curriculum, these facets are: Biodiversity and Ecology, Geophysical Environment, Environmental Economy and Management.

The second year program entitled “Water, Air, Pollution and Energy at local and regional scales (WAPE)” is widely based on the research and tutorial resources of the Institut Pierre Simon Laplace (IPSL). The WAPE program covers a broad spectrum of environmental problems with a focus on the meso scales. Direct admission to the second year is possible for suitably qualified students.
